Because of the difficulty and expense of forwarding money internationally, we will waive the application fee for international students at this time. If you are accepted into the program, you must send full payment when you return your acceptance form and I-20 request form (an invoice will be included in your admission packet). Please note that we do not accept credit cards. You may send a bank check, money order or wire transfer. Wire transfer instructions will be included with your admission notification.
Application Procedure
To apply for the Intensive English Language Program:
1. Complete the on-line application (online application form)
When you click on the on-line application for the English Language Program, choose your program dates and then choose your elective course.
2. Mail or fax us your
a.) Teacher recommendation (download form) - print this form and give it to your English teacher or another teacher who knows you well. The letter s/he writes should tell us about your behavior in class, your work style, your relationship with teachers and other students, your academic achievement and any problems the teacher anticipates for you in an intensive English language program at Brown University.
b.) Transcript - your school should send us a list of your grades/marks for each course (for at least 2 years) and also an explanation of the scoring system in English (for example, 6=excellent or A = excellent).
Students will receive an email to notify them whether or not they have been admitted. This email will have the I-20 request form attached. In order to apply for an I-20 form (which you will need to obtain a visa) please visit For International Students webpage.
