Typical Day

At BELL your classroom is the marine and coastal topography of Narragansett Bay and Brown’s Haffenreffer estate. In addition, you will have access to the libraries and laboratories on the Brown campus. University faculty will conduct some lectures and labs and you will spend a day on campus exploring all that it has to offer.
Each day is slightly different, but the basic schedule begins at 8 in the morning, ends at 10:30 in the evening, and includes field research, educational sessions, team-building and recreation time.

Highlights include:

•  A day-long trip to a local salt marsh

•  A day on a high ropes course

•  An opportunity to participate in an ongoing ecology or environmental science research project

•  Giving a speech and receiving feedback on a topic of your choosing

•  Meeting with current Brown students to learn about life on campus
