You're a great student - and a great athlete.
If you are interested in sports and also have aspirations to attend a selective and academically challenging college or university, then you may be right for the Brown Summer Scholar-Athlete program. Maintaining a competitive edge in both academics and athletics is challenging - and rewarding.
The Brown Summer Scholar-Athlete program is designed for student-athletes who want to meet that challenge. Both through the practice of their sport and through exposure to serious academic inquiry, Scholar-Athletes will preview the challenges inherent in attending a prestigious university.
Living in and experiencing life on a college campus as part of a larger pre-college summer session, they will participate in a variety of extra-curricular activities, ranging from study skills workshops, to presentations from college admissions personnel, to movies, ice cream socials and events in the dorms. They can also take advantage of this opportunity to explore the athletic facilities, libraries, and computing clusters. Brown Summer Scholar-Athletes will challenge their minds, hone their athletic skills and learn first-hand what to expect as a student and an athlete at a prestigious college.
Students do not need to have advanced skills in the sport aspect of the Scholar/Athlete program. If they have participated in the sport of their choice, enjoy it, do well in it and wish to improve they will enjoy our program. The coaches are fully expecting a wide range of experience in each of the sports.
Using sport as the vehicle for academic investigation, students can select ONE of the following one-week courses:
Scholar-Athlete: Sports Writing
Scholar-Athlete: Sport Physiology
