Before you go
Please be sure to bring 6 matte, passport-size photographs. You should bring your Brown student ID card with you and you should get an International Student ID card (available at STA/Council Travel) to bring with you so that you will qualify for student discounted entrance rates at museums, concert halls and historical sites. Bring any medication you take with you. Be sure to leave copies of your important documents (passport, visa, credit cards, etc) at home and bring copies separate from the originals.
When you go
The staff of the Nevsky Institute will be at the airport to greet you and to manage your transfer to your host family accommodation. Our program coordinator from the Nevsky Institute is Marina Loginova. If you encounter a problem while traveling, please contact Marina at her mobile number +011/ 7 921-309-0495
If you are delayed while traveling, please call Marina and let her know about the changes in your flight schedule. While Brown faculty will try to be at the airport when you arrive, due to the varied schedules that day, you may check in with the Nevsky Institute staff. Look for their signs when you arrive at the airport in St. Petersburg.

Once you are there, you will go from the airport to your host family accommodation where you will spend the first evening. On Monday, your host family will coordinate getting you to the Nevsky Institute where our group will meet at 11:00 with Marina Loginova and Liza Gulyakova from the Nevsky Institute. Be sure to bring your passport, visa, and 3 matte, passport-size photos with you in the morning. You will begin the registration and orientation program and receive a packet of all the useful information for the week. You will hear about the language program, instructors and Nevsky facilities. Professors from Brown will also be present.
After the Institute orientation, you will have a tour around the city with Russian students. The program will have cell phones for you. You will be responsible for your own minutes. During this part of the 1st day of orientation, you will have the opportunity to learn the metro system, exchange money, buy phone cards, etc.
Classes will begin officially on the following day.
