Planning to Take Math or Biology this year?
Dear Brown student,
This week’s email offers some guidance on how to proceed if you plan to study math and/or biology this year. There are also reminders for several important tasks; all but the VISA 0100 lottery are mandatory.
* Mathematics *
If you plan on taking a math course this year, please go to the math department's placement page: http://www.math.brown.edu/~res/DUS/Placement. The math placement page will help you determine which math course is best for you. If you find that your situation is not well covered by the online guides, please send email to mathplacement@math.brown.edu. Comprehensive information about math placement, including AP and international certification policies, is available at http://www..math.brown.edu.
* Biology *
For advice about the Biological Sciences, including fall course selection, please sign up at http://biology.brown.edu/bug to put yourself on the Biological Sciences mailing list. You can also write directly to Dean Marjorie Thompson at Marjorie_Thompson@brown.edu.
* Reminders *
Your letter to your academic advisors must be in by the end of next Monday, August 1. Submit your letter through ASK: https://apps.college.brown.edu/ask/first_readings/.
Friday, August 5 is the deadline for submitting your course preference form. Use ASK for this, too: https://apps.college.brown.edu/ask/course_preferences/.
Friday the 5th is also the deadline for the VISA0100 course lottery. You can enter the lottery through self-service Banner: http://selfservice.brown.edu.
Last but not least, if you have not yet completed the online tutorial about Brown's Academic and Non-Academic Student Code of Conduct, please take care of that; those of you who haven’t yet completed it will receive a reminder email today. If you’re having trouble with the tutorial itself, please let us know and we'll be happy to help you.
Feel free to contact us at Advising@brown.edu or 401/863-9800. We hope you're having a great summer!
