Pre-reg tips, CHEM 0330 placement exam, science advising
Happy Halloween weekend!
Next week you’ll pre-register for Semester II courses: Pre-reg for first-years opens at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, November 4 and closes at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 8. If you haven’t met with your advisor, make sure to contact him or her ASAP -- advisors are busy, too, and can’t necessarily see you at the last minute!
Today’s email offers a few registration-related tips and highlights the Science Center’s Wednesday advising hours.
* First-Year Seminars with openings, Writing Fellows courses *
Looking for a small class for next semester, or one that will provide intensive help on your writing? Check out the first-year seminars with openings and Writing Fellows courses: http://apps.college.brown.edu/ask/materials/. FYSs provide a unique opportunity to interact in an intimate setting with other first-years and an instructor who has hand-picked material that is of particular interest to him or her. Writing Fellows courses are offered in a wide range of disciplines, and provide focused opportunities for students to work in a guided fashion on their writing. Remember, too, that you can shop fully enrolled FYS and Writing Fellows courses just as you would shop other courses, and lobby for your spot.
* CHEM 0330 Placement Exam *
Those of you who are planning to take CHEM 0330 next semester must take the online placement exam in order to be admitted to the course. The exam is available from now until 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 8, and can be accessed through self-service Banner.
* Science Advising *
Having trouble with one of your science courses? The Science Center hosts specialized science advising every Wednesday. Come by on a Wednesday and meet with faculty about courses, concentrations, and more.
