Registration deadline, Summer plans

Dear first-years,

Hail, the long weekend! We hope you enjoy the brief respite, and wanted to share one deadline reminder and a few Meiklejohn tips about the upcoming summer:

- Next Wednesday, February 22, is the LAST DAY to add a course (with a fee), change from audit to credit, or change a grade option. Changes can be made until 5:00 pm. Check your course registrations to make sure you're registered for the right courses, and also that your grade options are the ones you intend. If you're still debating whether or not to take a course S/NC, talk it over with your advisor or Meiklejohn, or come see a dean in open hours next Monday or Tuesday.

- Meik Tip of the Week: It's never too early to start thinking about the summer... Interested in research or an internship? http://brown.edu/college/research/ is a good portal to begin looking for more information about summer internships and research opportunities. If you want a research experience close to home, contact professors and researchers at institutions in your local area; try several, and don’t get frustrated if you don’t hear back from many. If you’re looking at unpaid or low-paying internships, check out Brown’s amazing LINK Award Program, which provides funding to support just these kinds of opportunities: http://brown.edu/campus-life/support/careerlab/LINK.
