Course Evaluations, Theories in Action Conference, Sophomore Advisor

List of emails

Dear first-years,

Today begins the Reading Period, which is optional and at the discretion of the instructor. Your Meiklejohns suggest you “mix it up” in terms of study spaces; here are some suggestions to take you beyond the Rock and the Sci Li: JWW, TWC, Smitty B, Faunce, MoChamp lounge, Hillel, Watson library, B&H classrooms, RISD Library.

This week’s email directs you to the link for course evaluations, invites you to participate in the Theories in Action conference, and reminds you to let us know about your advising choice for next year.

- Online course evaluations -

Forty-one departments are using online course evaluations this term, so chances are good that at least one of your professors is using the online system. You can access your online evaluations through http://selfservice.brown.edu. Once you enter your secure Banner page, click on Course evaluations; you’ll see a list of the participating courses in which you are enrolled, along with the opening and closing dates for each course’s evaluation. As is the case with all course evaluations, your feedback is strictly confidential and will not be read by your instructors until they have submitted final course grades.

- Theories in Action Conference -

The Curricular Resource Center and Dean of the College office are proud to present Theories in Action—a campus-wide, multi-disciplinary conference that gives 70 Brown seniors the opportunity to showcase their academic or co-curricular work to the campus at large. TIA provides a moment to celebrate and recognize the challenging work of synthesis and application of knowledge, and for participants to reflect on the social relevance of their work. First-years are warmly encouraged to attend a group presentation or Friday's poster session to get a sense of the kinds of research, thesis, and capstone projects that seniors pursue. For a full schedule, visit: http://www.browntia.wordpress.com.

- Sophomore Advisor -

If you haven’t already, please tell us who your sophomore advisor will be! http://apps.college.brown.edu/sophomore_advisor_request/
