Fall 2011

September

Wednesday, 7 Classes begin for Semester I

Wednesday, 7 to Friday, 16 Sophomore Open Hours with Randall advisors.
Tuesday, 20 Last day to add a course without a fee (5:00 p.m. deadline)
Wednesday, 21 Law School Fair (12:00 p.m.–1:30 p.m.)
Tuesday, 27 Study Abroad Fair (11:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.)

October

Tuesday, 4 CareerLAB Alumni panel on Careers and Concentrations (7:00 p.m.–8:30 p.m.)
Tuesday, 4 Last day to add a course, change from audit to credit, or change a grade option (5:00 p.m. deadline)
Monday, 10 Fall Weekend. No University exercises.
Friday, 14 Mid-semester deadline. Last day to change from credit to audit in a course (5:00 p.m. deadline). Last day to request a Course Performance Report.
Saturday, 15 Deadline for students on leave to confirm readmission for Semester II
Saturday, 15 Deadline for students entering their fifth semester to file concentration declaration forms electronically, in ASK. Students who do not file will have a “No Concentration” hold placed on their registration.
Friday, 14 to Sunday, 16 Family Weekend. Visit http://brown.edu/web/family_weekend for information about programming for sophomores and their families.
Monday, 17 to Friday, 28 Advising Period for spring pre-registration. Students in their third semester will need to procure their alternate PIN from their sophomore advisor in order to register. Sophomore Open Hours, with Randall advisors and sophomore deans.

November

Tuesday, 1 to Tuesday, 8 Pre-registration for Semester II.
Friday, 4 Deadline for submission of proposals for Group Independent Study Projects (GISPs) for Semester II
Thursday, 10 Undergraduate Research and Fellowships Fair (4:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m.)
Wednesday, 23 to Sunday, 27 Thanksgiving recess beginning Wednesday at noon
Monday, 28 Classes resume

December

Thursday, 1 Deadline for declaring a leave for Semester II CareerLAB Internships, Research, and Funding Showcase (4:00 p.m.–7:00 p.m.)
Thursday, 8 to Monday, 12 Reading Period (optional and at the discretion of the instructor)
Monday, 12 Classes end for courses not observing Reading Period. Last day to drop a course or to file for an incomplete (5:00 p.m. deadline).

Spring 2012

January

Monday, 16 Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday. No University exercises.
Tuesday, 24 Registration for new students for the second semester
Wednesday, 25 Semester II classes begin
Wednesday, 25 Friday, February 3 Sophomore Open Hours with Randall advisors.

February

Wednesday, 1 Deadline to complete fall semester Incompletes. Students who finish their Incompletes after this deadline may still earn course credit, but their academic standing will not be affected.
Tuesday, 7 Last day to add a course without a fee (5:00 p.m. deadline)
Saturday, 18 to Tuesday, 21 Long weekend. No University exercises.
Wednesday, 22 Last day to add a course, change from audit to credit, or change a grade option (5:00 p.m. deadline)

March

Friday, 9 Mid-semester deadline. Last day to change from credit to audit in a course (5:00 p.m. deadline).
