Deans

Academic deans help students take full advantage of Brown's intellectual resources and curricular options. The deans serve as advisors to first- and second-year students, oversee Brown's academic advising programs, and provide assistance to students needing enhanced academic support. Each dean specializes in particular areas of advising such as health careers, fellowships, and undergraduate research.

Deans hold open hours weekdays in Advising Central from 1-4 p.m. and on the second floor of University Hall from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Click on the link at left to read about deans' areas of specialization.

Summer 2013

Open hours are designed for quick questions, exploratory conversations, and emergencies. Students are seen in order, upon arrival. However, we also encourage you to arrange individual appointments with deans, especially if the issue you wish to discuss falls under a dean's particular area of responsibility,* or requires an extended conversation.
