Sandra Russo-Rodriguez
Lecturer in Chemistry
Dr. Russo-Rodriguez is a Lecturer in the Chemistry Department at Brown University. She has a B.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Puerto Rico in Rio Piedras, and a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. After conducting Postdoctoral research at M.I.T., she worked as a researcher in Industry for a number of years, including work at Polaroid and Amgen. She conducted Organic synthesis research to support programs in Digital Imaging, Bioorganic Chemistry, Biotherapeutics, Pharmaceuticals, and custom synthesis. Her main research focus has been the synthesis of biologically relevant compounds. She is currently teaching Chem 100, Chem 330T and summer Chem 100 web; she offers support to students in Chem 330 and Chem 350 courses with open office hours and supervision of open TA hours. Dr. Russo-Rodriguez is a first-year and sophomore advisor, conducts Ethical research training of graduate students in the Chemistry Department, and is currently involved in teaching and advising of undergraduates to increase the retention of students in the Physical Sciences.
