Study Abroad
Brown’s Office of International Programs sends approximately 600 students abroad each year. The University sponsors programs in Barbados, Brazil, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, Ethiopia, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Poland, South Korea, Sweden, Tanzania, and the United Kingdom. In addition, students can participate in 140 other approved programs in more than 40 countries. Students may also petition to receive Brown transfer credit from other program sites. Many study abroad programs require students to demonstrate proficiency in the host country’s primary language. Students are strongly encouraged to learn about international study opportunities during their first year at Brown so that they may plan their academic course of study accordingly.
