Summer Internships

Summer internships provide students with invaluable experience working with agencies and organizations related to their academic interests or professional aspirations. Many companies that offer such internships, particularly those in the fields of finance and media outlets, require that interns receive academic credit for this experience. Brown does not grant academic credit for summer internships, but students can arrange a credit-bearing independent study with a Brown professor in which they analyze the internship experience. Students must arrange the independent study prior to the internship experiences, and the independent study must be carried out in the fall semester following the summer internship. Students studying at Brown on international visas should visit the Office of International Scholars and Student Services to obtain information about and procedures for arranging internships that do not violate their visa status.

Funding for Summer Internships
