Pay

Determining Salaries, Increases and Bonuses

Brown University is committed to a compensation system that is based on pay-for-performance and market competitiveness. Brown has a formal salary administration program for determining the relative worth of each position to Brown and within the market where we recruit. Starting salaries routinely reflect the employee's qualifications as they relate to the position, market factors, and the departments budget considerations. Salary increases are based primarily on performance within an approved salary pool. No offer, or promise of an offer, can be made without authorization by Human Resources. Brown seeks to offer a total compensation package (salary plus benefits) that enables the University to attract and retain highly skilled and talented employees at all levels.
