Job Transfers & Promotions (Audits)

Brown University is committed to investing in its employees by offering paths to education and training, as well as creating opportunities for its employees' professional development and growth.

Current employees who are interested in transfers and promotions are encouraged to apply for opportunities posted on the University’s Online Employment System.

While employees are not required to work in any one position for a minimum period of time before applying for a promotion or transfer, staff members are generally encouraged to remain in a position for one year to build a record of good work performance. Those employees who are transferred or promoted generally serve a new probationary period, which may last from three to six months.

In addition, managers may request a job audit for a position which may have evolved to include higher-level work. The audit process will determine if an upgrade for the position is deemed appropriate.
