Consulting Services
We facilitate the professional development of individuals and departments through a variety of services including one-on-one consulting sessions, departmental training and retreats. Let us consult with you to design and/or facilitate your next departmental training session or retreat. Departments we have recently worked with include the Watson Institute, Dining Services and Psychological Services. The Center for Staff Learning & Professional Development offers services in the following areas:
Teamwork
We help teams understand their group dynamics and improve their ability to work together. Through experiential activities and a variety of assessment tools, team members build trust and open communication channels while clarifying and aligning their roles and responsibilities within the team's mission.
Customer Service
Who are our customers at Brown? Everyone!- Students, parents, alumni, colleagues, vendors, campus visitors, etc. Do you want to exceed your customer's expectations? The Center for Staff Learning & Professional Development can present programs such as The Fantastic Service Equation and the FISH! Philosophy® or tailor a session for your department to achieve service excellence.
Instructional Design
Has your department been asked to develop employee training on University policies, procedures, or work processes? Have you been asked to explain your services to staff and faculty? If so, the Center for Staff Learning & Professional Development can help you!
We provide "Train the Trainer" classes and services to staff members who are subject matter experts (SMEs) charged with developing employee training sessions.
Departments we have recently worked with include the Office of Sponsored Projects, the Controller's Office and Purchasing.
Needs Assessment
Let us assist you in gathering information and feedback about a specific topic to determine if training is needed. We use a variety of data gathering techniques including on-line surveys and focus groups. We can assist you in identifying the purpose and outcomes of your needs assessment or focus group, develop and write question and facilitate or train others to facilitate and concisely summarize findings.
