Michael Eric Dyson


Michael Eric Dyson is a professor of communication studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is also the director of the Institute of African-American Research at UNC. He taught at the Chicago Theological Seminary and then at Brown University before going to North Carolina in 1994. Dyson is also an ordained Baptist minister. He has many projects underway including a new collection of interviews and essays. He has appeared on television talk shows such as "Charlie Rose," "Nightline," and "Oprah Winfrey." He is the author of four books, Race Rules, recently published in 1996, Reflecting Black (1983), Making Malcolm (1995), and Between God and Gangsta Rap (1996). His memoirs, titled How I Got Over, are due out in 1998.
