Ricky A. Gresh named director of student activities at Brown

Ricky A. Gresh, currently assistant dean/assistant director of student life programs at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, will begin his duties as director of student activities at Brown University in July. He succeeds David Inman.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — David A. Greene, vice president for campus life and student services, today announced the appointment of Ricky A. Gresh as the University’s director of student activities. Gresh will begin his duties in July 2004, succeeding David Inman, who retired in April.

Gresh, who currently is assistant dean/assistant director of student life programs at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, will be responsible for enhancing the services and programs of Brown University’s Student Activities Office, which offers support and services to more than 200 student groups on campus, as well as planning and implementing student-related events, programs and initiatives. He also will oversee the management of Faunce House, T.F. Green Hall and the Haffenreffer Outing Facility in Bristol.

“Gresh brings to Brown an impressive career, having worked with a broad constituency of students and projects at MIT,” said Greene. At MIT, Gresh helped develop a community program model for MIT’s new Stata Center Complex, was instrumental in the development of a campus and local community partnership to address alcohol-related issues, and directed MIT’s Lesbian, Bisexual, Gay & Transgender (lbgt @ MIT) Program and Resource Center. He also coordinated Web and communication plans and has student programming and advising experience through his work with a wide variety of MIT student organizations and the University's Panhellenic and Interfraternity councils. Gresh also served as a program administrator for residential life, the assistant director at the public service center, and a program advisor for student activities.

Gresh received his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1995 and an Ed.M. from Harvard in 1997.
