Brown in the Czech Republic
Often called the " Paris of the East," Prague is one of the best preserved historical cities of Europe. For this reason, it boasts a wealth of architectural, artistic and cultural treasures.
A city of around 1,200,000 inhabitants, Prague forms the capital of the Czech Republic. Its central location and long history make it an ideal site for the study of Central Europe and the changes and challenges of the new European system.
About the Collegium Hieronymi Pragensis
The Collegium Hieronymi Pragensis (CHP) is located directly in Prague. A consortium of American schools, including Brown, sponsors and forms an Academic Advisor Board to CHP. The Slavic Studies Department at Brown supports the program and considers it a valuable addition to the undergraduate concentration in Slavic Studies. The concentration strives to examine Slavic cultures from an insider's rather than an outsider's point of view (i.e. western scholarship and media). For this reason, study on the CHP program fits in perfectly wtih the Department's mission.
