Slavery/Justice Research and Teaching Initiative
In its response to the report of the University Steering Committee on Slavery and Justice, the University committed itself to “a major research and teaching initiative on slavery and justice” and indicated that a “committee of experts will be appointed to explore how best to carry out such an initiative, the shape, cost, and scope of which is to be determined by the committee, in consultation with the Provost, the President, the Corporation, and the relevant standing committees of the faculty. Whether this results in a new center or the significant enlargement of an existing and coordinated set of programs should be determined through this process.” The focus is to be on the history of slavery and its legacy.
