Faculty Forum: Teaching Innovations |
This issue of The Teaching Exchange features of articles by faculty on three major topics: Discussion sections, course use of the CMS WebCT, and Student Privacy. The "Faculty Forum" hosts ideas by colleagues on course collaboration between RISD and Brown, how to teach effective Interview techniques, and the impact of WebCT on learning. Christopher Amirault, Director of the Institute for Elementary and Secondary Education challenges faculty to reflect thoughtfully on the role of the discussion section in a course. Shoggy Warren, French Studies, reviews the introduction of WebCT and how he has adapted it for use at Brown Roger Blumberg, Computer Science, reflects upon the problem the Internet presents for student privacy. This winter the Sheridan Center will be researching the ways in which graduate students are effectively taught about grading within the disciplines. The Center also will have moved to its new location by mid-January. We hope these articles will inspire discussion and debate among colleagues across campus and we welcome contributions from faculty and graduate students in future issues of the Teaching Exchange.
