Giving to Brown
Based on FY10 Brown cash giving:
- Number of female undergraduate donors: 11,295 alumnae donated in FY10 compared to 9,833 in FY03 (14.9% increase in number of female undergraduate donors).
- Dollars contributed by female undergraduate donors: $23,757,503 in FY10 compared to $9,926,899 in FY03, an increase of 139% (Note that dollars are counted at the household level and include Brown spouse giving).
The late Eleanor Haley Schwartz ’29 is credited with the largest gift to the University by a woman. A graduate of Pembroke College, Mrs. Schwartz, through a generous bequest, donated $26.5 million to establish the Eleanor Haley Schwartz Scholarship Fund, benefitting female undergraduate students.
