	The Ruth J. Simmons Women's Leadership Scholarship
	Susan P. Friedman '77, P'08, founding member and Chair Emerita of the Women's Leadership Council, issued a $1 Million Challenge to establish the first-ever *Ruth J. Simmons Women's Leadership Scholarship*.
	During the Friday evening gala of the Women’s Leadership Conference, Susan P. Friedman ’77, P’08 announced a $1 million challenge to establish the first-ever Ruth J. Simmons Women’s Leadership Scholarship. All money raised will help to bring capable and qualified women to Brown. Friedman encouraged support of this scholarship by stating: “We, the women of Brown, can and will make this happen!” Watch this historical moment, download video.

During Brown’s Campaign for the Rising Generation (1991 - 1996), Brown alumnae and female parents were responsible for just under$10M on average per fiscal year.

**The Campaign for Academic Enrichment (2004-current) has seen that figure increase by more than 300%, with alumnae and female parent commitments totaling on average more than $43M per fiscal year.

The overall average BAF alumni participation rate over the last three years is 35%.

**Women participating as mentors in the WLC’s mentoring program have an average giving rate of 70% to the Brown Annual Fund.
The late Eleanor Haley Schwartz ’29 is credited with the largest gift to the University by a woman. A graduate of Pembroke College, Mrs. Schwartz, through a generous bequest, donated $26.5 million to establish the Eleanor Haley Schwartz Scholarship Fund, benefitting female undergraduate students.
