Brown Takes Down UConn; Remains Undefeated in League Play

Brown beat UCONN to remain undefeated in league play. Brown came into the mach tired and sore having taken on a very talented and physical St Xavier side Friday evening. Flanker Israelle McKinnon ‘11 put Brown on the board 1 minute and 30 seconds into the match with a terrific dash through the UCONN line to score under the post, Chelsea Garber ‘12 converted and Brown led 7-0. The UCONN players adjusted and played some tough defense to deny Brown a number of times at the line. Fourteen minutes in forward captain Naomi Oberman-Briendel ‘10 fought through to score and put Brown up 12-0. Minutes before the half wing Katie Glerum ‘10 countered a UCONN clearing kick and skated through the defense to score, Chelsea Garber converted and Brown had a comfortable 19 point lead. In the second half Brown put together some nice phases but just could not score. Chelsea Garber gave the sidelines a lift when she hit a beautiful drop kick off a scrum to put Brown up 22-0.
