Gamna Gandy Body

Also known as Gamna Gandy nodules, siderotic nodules and fibrosiderotic nodules, the lesions shown here

in microphotos are composed of fibrous tissue and elastic fibers with deposition of iron and calcium salts and

completely disrupt the local architecture of the spleen. They are seen in cases of congestive splenomegaly,

sickle cell anemia, and hemochromatosis. Grossly, small yellow-brown, rusty nodules are seen.
