Senior Capstone: The Electronic Portfolio
The capstone experience recapitulates the sum and substance of a student's concentration. For some students, the seminar taken in the senior year serves as part of their capstone experience. In addition, all seniors would submit an electronic portfolio.
The portfolio highlights the student's achievements in writing and analysis and includes at least four elements:
- a copy of a research paper from a seminar in the area of the student's focus
- a representation of the student's public project in the junior seminar
- some demonstration of competence (in the form of papers or presentations) in the student's three themes and three approaches
- a short self-reflective essay on what the student learned in American Studies
Compiling the online portfolio would be a non-graded assignment, advised and monitored by the Director of Undergraduate Studies. Students will publicly present their portfolios during reading period in their last semester.
Students who are writing Honors Theses should also include them in the eportfolio.
