Dissertation Research: By looking at the relations between contemporary Taiwanese indigenous groups and indigenous groups around the world, I will try to answer questions of how peoples who previously see themselves as mutually distinct and distant come to see each other as similar and even related. I am particularly interested in the role that indigenous media and cultural programs play in the formation of new indigenous communities.
