Areas of Interest:
I work in Guatemala and am broadly interested in social movements, natural resource conflicts, democratic practices, indigenous citizenship, and multiculturalism. I am currently working on my MA which deals with the widespread engagement of highland communities in participatory referendums on large-scale “mega-projects” (such as oil or mineral exploration), a strategy practiced by indigenous communities which instantiates rights while attempting to redefine the form “development” takes in their territories.
