Student CAC News

About the SCAC

The Student Creative Arts Council at Brown organizes students from different disciplines and departments to affect university policy and development and to forge a more direct path to the people who make decisions that affect the undergraduate experience.

The SCAC is responsible for:

  • representing student needs to the CAC; and
  • planning the MESH events and the Spring Arts Festival
  • establishing communication between disciplines in the arts.

Student Grant Program

Fall 2009 Student Grant Program.

The CAC is no longer accepting applications for the Fall 2009 Student Grant Program. Check back in late January for the Spring 2010 cycle.

The CAC will provide awards of up to $1,000 in support of undergraduate and graduate student work engaged in the study, critique, and/or production of the creative arts.

Selection Criteria

Proposals supported by the CAC should meet the following requirements:

  • Consistent with the mission of the CAC
  • Originality of purpose and efficient use of resources.
  • The CAC does not fund student travel.
  • Proposals for interdisciplinary projects are encouraged

Applications

Proposals must include the following:

  • Application form. Click here to request an application form
  • Itemized projected budget including: all associated costs and any sources of additional funding (both actual and anticipated)
  • Project timeline including relevant goals and events involved with the project (i.e. exhibition/distribution/performance)

Submission of Requests

The CAC will consider grant requests once per semester. Applications must be delivered to Chira DelSesto in the Hillel Cneter, Room 305, or via email by noon on the deadline date Applications will be reviewed by a jury.

Acknowledgements and Reporting Requirements

  • Proposals funded by the CAC should be acknowledged as such in any publicity materials.
  • A final report on the project (including final budget) must be submitted to the CAC chair within 30 days of completion of the sponsored program.
  • Unused funds must be returned to the CAC within 14 days of completion of the sponsored program.
