The Italian Version of the electronic text
is based on V. Branca's Einaudi edition (1992).
The recently added English translation of the Decameron by J. M. Rigg
(1903), while somewhat dated in its language and style, benefits
Decameron Web users in several ways. Rigg's highly literal approach to
translation gives readers a reliable crib for exploring the original Italian text
while at the same time being easily readable on its own. For this reason, it has been chosen for the English translation in the bilingual facing pages
display of the Decameron text (forthcoming), and will serve as a reference point
for a variety of translation activites soon to be added to the Pedagogy
Module.
