Undergraduate Program

The undergraduate curriculum offers a varied mix of courses, and encourages students to explore both the theoretical and practical aspects of the discipline. Undergraduates may also participate in fieldwork projects, either conducted by Brown faculty (for example, the Tongobriga project in Portugal and the Great Temple excavation at Petra, Jordan), or by colleagues at other institutions. Class visits and interaction with nearby collections, such as at the Museum of the Rhode Island School of Design and Brown's own Haffenreffer Museum, take place regularly. Additional opportunities for undergraduate honors work and research experiences are presently being developed.
