Reading Groups
There are currently several active reading groups at Brown, which are open to both students and faculty. All meetings are held in the Department lounge at 54 College Street unless otherwise noted.
- Epistemology
The Epistemology Reading Group currently meets on Thursday at 1pm. The group covers a wide range of contemporary material in epistemology. For additional information, contact Andrew Rotondo. - Metaethics
The Metaethics Reading Group currently meets on Tuesday at 12 noon. Past readings include Mark Schroeder's Slaves of the Passions , Kieran Setiya's Reasons Without Rationalism and various articles on normativity, practical reasons, and rationality. The Metaphysics and Mind Reading Group currently meets on Wednesday at 11am. Past readings include Sydney Shoemaker's Physical Realization, James Ladyman et al.'s Everything Must Go, and Christopher Hill's forthcoming Consciousness, as well as numerous articles in metaphysics, the philosophy of mind, and the philosophy of science. The Graduate Political Philosophy Workgroup meets some Thursdays at 4pm. This interdisciplinary group reads and comments on work in progress of members concerning a range of topics in ethics, political philosophy, and political theory.
