Housing for the APSA conference

A special conference rate of $139 is available at the Providence Hilton, 21 Atwells Avenue, Providence, RI02903, in downtown Providence. Please, call the Hilton Central Reservations Center at 1-800-HILTONS (1-800-445-8867) and identify yourself as a participant in the “APSA Conference.” Internet users must enter the group code “APSA.” Reservations must be made by Monday, September 6, 2010 in order to qualify for the group rate.

The Providence Hilton provides shuttle service to bring guests to College Hill, where Brown University is located. Public transportation and taxis are also readily available. It is a twenty-minute walk up College Hill.

A small block of rooms has also been reserved at the Hampton Inn & Suites, 58 Weybosset St, in downtown Providence, a ten minute walk to the Brown campus. The rate is $109, and includes continental breakfast. Please call the hotel directly (401-608-3500) and mention "APSA Conference" and/or "Brown University".

A limited number of rooms at the Saunders Inn, an on-campus facility, has been reserved specifically for graduate students presenting papers at the conference. The rate is $110 a night. Since the rooms have two beds, sharing is encouraged. Interested graduate students must indicate their student status and contact the Department of Portuguese and Brazilian Studies (Attn: Ms. Armanda Silva) as soon as possible.
