Professional Opportunities

Brown students in Slavic Studies engage in a wide range of academic and professional pursuits both during and after their years in Providence. In many cases work is across disciplines and results from experience gained in work done both in and outside the Department as well as time abroad. Some examples:

Internships in areas as diverse as medicine, diplomacy, museum curatorship and the arts, translation, publishing, business

Research: competitive internal and external research awards like the Royce and Arnold Fellowships, as well as Fulbrights

Community Service: work with local speakers of Slavic languages doing tutoring in English and translating

Graduate Study: our students go on to graduate work in diverse fields, including medical and law schools, master's programs in East European / Central Asian Studies, and of course doctoral programs in Slavic Studies. Recent graduates have gone on to Harvard, Princeton, Georgetown, University of Michigan, Stamford, Columbia, Middlebury
