Facilities Management is organized into several functional areas:
Computer Aided Design (CAD) is responsible for creating and maintaining accurate information for all of Brown University’s facilities, including land holdings, buildings, infrastructure and other physical property.
Custodial is responsible for the safe and effective cleaning of buildings on the Brown Campus.
Engineering provides professional engineering support and technical coordination to Facilities Management offices as well as to other University Departments.
Finance Office has full responsibility for Facilities Management payroll, contracted services, procurement, accounts payable, interdepartmental billing of services, equipment inventory, tracking and reporting energy expenses and the reporting of budget allocations and expenses.
Human Resources and Labor Relations Office strives to attract and retain talented employees.
Grounds maintains the campus landscape and athletic fields.
Maintenance Operations Services includes structural trades, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and central heating plant divisions, overseeing day to day operations, planned and unplanned corrective maintenance, minor alternations and project support, and preventive maintenance efforts.
Energy & Environment (E&E Office) is committed to achieving sustained energy and environmental performance. This requires an ongoing, integrated and systematic approach to energy management including assessing performance, setting goals, creating an action plan, and tracking and communicating results. Additionally, the E&E Office coordinates the Sustainability Strategic Planning & Advisory Committee and releases an annual Sustainability Report on current initiatives.
Planning Design & Construction is responsible for facilitating the initiation, planning process, approvals, consultant selection, design review, and construction delivery of all new construction, renovations, infrastructure/energy upgrades, and major building maintenance initiatives on campus.
Real Estate is responsible for managing all aspects of the University's commercial real estate operations within the framework provided by the master plan, including the acquisition, lease, sublease and disposal of real estate as well as oversight of property management vendors.
Service Response Center processes more than 54,000 requests for work to be performed annually. The Center serves as the primary liaison between the campus community and Facilities Management staff.
Stores Operations is responsible for procuring all maintenance and repair material for the Department of Facilities Management.
System and Services is responsible for creating and maintaining accurate information for all of Brown University’s facilities as well as providing service and support for Facilities Management's technology infrastructure essential for the applications utilized by Facilities’ staff.
