Collection and disposal of campus trash and recycling is the responsibility of two divisions within Facilities Management, the Custodial Division and the Grounds Division.

The Facilities Management Custodial Division has the responsibility for the removal of trash and recycling from office spaces, classrooms and common areas. Students are responsible for the removal of trash and recycling from the dormitory rooms. The collection place for trash and recycling in the dormitories is the trash room located in each dorm. The custodians remove the trash and recycling from the dormitory trash rooms and from all other buildings and place the materials in containers located throughout the campus. There are over 75 trash and recycling locations at various sites on the campus. The University contracts with a private vendor for the disposal of the trash from campus and a dedicated recycling vendor for the removal and marketing of recyclable commodities.
