This year, after learning and sharing about symbols and artifacts from the Haffenreffer Museum of Anthropology, Brown University, children from the Brown / Fox Point Early Childhood Education Center, Inc. practiced handling, describing, and asking questions about objects. Each class of four-year-olds voted on their own exhibit theme and then voted on the objects they wanted to include. Students wrote object labels, drew their impression of an object, and contributed to object descriptions.
The Willows classroom decided on the theme of masks and the Redwoods classroom decided on the theme of animals, resulting in the Animal Faces and Figures exhibit.
