Note from the playwright: I wanted to write about the Asian Americans that grew up here. The ones that are invisible to mass culture, but consume just the same, quietly, in the privacy of their own cells. These Americans, these United Statesians, Iggy and Kiki, (and even Walsh, because the great clone question is, ‘what is the performance that convinces others that you are human?’), I know them to be of our time, these first moments of the 21st century. And so, to be additive to the culture is to imagine our citizens beyond the usual stereotype and let them have epic dramas in banal spaces, let them have their organic drama unfold, and yes, to let them fall in love in the mall. Addiction has no ethnicity.
