Alex Torra is the Associate Artistic Director for Pig Iron Theatre Company, where he has worked, in varied capacities, on Anodyne, Shut Eye, 365 Plays/365 Days, PAY UP, Sweet By-and-By, Chekhov Lizardbrain, and as director of Come to Awesome Fiesta, its Going to be Awesome, Okay? Further directing credits include Comedy of Errors (Shakespeare in Clark Park); Spoken Insects (Dixon Place); As I Pronounced it to You… (The Playwrights Tavern, NY); The Blessing of the Animals (Abingdon Theater); Power of Sail (Brown/Trinity Playwrights Rep); Anaerobic Respiration (The Shifting Company) at the 2005 NY International Fringe Festival; Romeo and Juliet, Gingerbreadhouse, Richard III, Cloud Tectonics, Glengarry Glen Ross, Blind Woman of Veracruz, Giants Have Us in their Books (Brown/Trinity Consortium). He has worked as Assistant Director at theaters across the country including Trinity Rep, the Public Theater, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, and the Guthrie. Awards: 2007 Princess Grace Award (Grace Le Vine Theater Award), 2007 Oregon Shakespeare Festival F.A.I.R. Directing Fellowship, 2006 Drama League Fall Directing Fellowship. Alex received his M.F.A. in Directing from the Brown University/Trinity Rep Consortium and his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania.
