We walk, we stroll, we dine – always on alternate Monday mornings and almost always outdoors. Destinations are often parks or nature refuges, but occasionally we visit small towns having an interesting history or a local destination such as the Brown Campus or Swan Pt. Cemetery. A typical walk would cover 2 miles at the most on reasonably even terrain; there are usually options for distance and walking speed. Specific plans are distributed in advance by e-mail or snail mail. We ask participants to contact the leader at least 24 hours in advance of each trip, so that we can organize the driving.
Our group gathered for the first time in 1982; it now includes many of those “original” walkers and newer members, often retirees. Occasionally our walks are guided by an expert, but more often our “guides” are each other.
