Welcome to the homepage of the Moral Psychology Research Laboratory. Our research asks questions like: Why do we sometimes punish accidents? And, when do we think it is OK to sacrifice one person for the good of many? We are interested in understanding the cognitive processes that give rise to moral judgment, their development, and their evolutionary history.

The lab is housed in the Department of Cognitive, Linguistic and Psychological Sciences at Brown University, and is directed by Fiery Cushman.
