Brown University Events for Focus the Nation

 

ftn logoFocus the Nation is a national teach-in engaging millions of students and citizens with political leaders and decision makers about global warming solutions. Many Brown University professors will include modules, guest speakers, discussions, and panels on topics related to climate change as part of their regular teaching during the week of January 28 - Febuary 1. In addition, several large public events are planned. Brown University's participation in Focus the Nation is being organized by the student environmental group EmPOWER. Noon: Senator Whitehouse kicks off Focus the Nation with a talk on combating climate change

7:00 p.m.Tu B'Shvat "Birthday of the Trees" Seder
Location: Hillel Meeting Room

Tu B'Shvat is a Jewish holiday which marks the birthday of trees.  While the Tu
Bishvat Seder started as a kabbalistic way to celebrate the holiday, at the Seder, fruits and other foods are eaten that symbolize the physical, emotional, and spiritual importance of trees.  It is a fun program where we express our gratitude for trees, nature, and pledge to sustain the Earth for future generations.
