Vascular Research Laboratory at Providence VA Medical Center is home to investigators that share a common interest in endothelial and vascular smooth muscle biology as it relates to pulmonary and cardiac diseasses. As a community of basic science researchers and clinicians, we share the common vision of translating our research from bench to bedside.

The areas of investigation include:

  • Elucidating mechanisms important in regulating endothelial cell apoptosis in the pulmonary circulation
  • Delineation of mechanisms underlying endothelial cell heterogeneity
  • Pulmonary vascular dysfunction in hypoxia
  • Signal transduction pathways important in lung edema
  • Progression and treatment of pulmonary hypertension and right heart failure
  • Evaluation of novel markers of endothelial function
  • Endothelial dysfunction in coronary artery disease
