Annual Reunion & Commencement Reception

All Brown Outdoor Leadership Training leaders, participants and families are invited to BOLT’s reunion and commencement gathering. We host this event annually for families of our graduates and to welcome back our alums.
Saturday, May 27th, 5 pm – 7 pm
Machado House, 87 Prospect Street
We will be out back enjoying the Machado patio, weather permitting. Indoors otherwise.

BOLT (Brown Outdoor Leadership Training) Fall 2013 applications are due Friday (of Spring Weekend), April 19th at 11:59pm. First-year (rising sophomore), and new transfer/RUE students are encouraged to apply!

Each year, our program depends on funding from BOLT parents, alumni and friends to support our trips and fall programming events, to maintain the program’s need blind financial assistance, to maintain our ability to lend out equipment and to improve the quality of leader training.
Without your support, we would not be able to offer BOLT as an opportunity for students at Brown. This year's phone-a-thon provided $1800 in pledges and gifts with additional funding provided through donors sending in gifts through cards, emails and gifts on line. We cannot thank our families and friends enough for allowing us to pass the gift of BOLT on to each new BOLTer and Leader class.

Incoming Fall Transfer Apps

BOLTer New Transfer Applications will close soon! New, Fall 2012 RUE and Transfer students are welcome to apply. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis beginning Friday, June 15th. The final deadline for Incoming Transfer Students to apply during our rolling apps process is July 31st, 2012.

Armide Storey, Aaron Reyes and Natalie Jones will be our managers this summer. They will work with BOLTers, Leaders and Parents to prepare us for the launch of the new academic year. Armide's work will focus on helping BOLTers prepare for our annual Fall trip and helping to plan our fall calendar of events. Aaron Reyes is our guru of our group and loaner gear. Natalie Jones will work with both leader prep and with planning all our food. Please feel free to email us at email@example.com.
New BOLT Office in the Works

Due to the Keeney Renovation Project (see article below), The BOLT Office has moved to the Campus Center room 034. This is next to the Kasper Multipurpose Room. (For our alums, this location is translated to Faunce House in the hallway area before the old mailroom.)
Keeney Renovation Project
June 8, 2012
Keeney Quad is closed for the summer for the first wave of renovations. The changes in residence halls within Keeney include paint, flooring, new lighting, two new elevators and three lounges on the top floors, new bathrooms and then mechanical things like replacing generators and such. Keeney will be ready for opening -although the lounge will be off-line for a little longer while finishing touches in the building are completed.
For BOLT, this means that Arnold Lounge is behind construction fencing this summer and has become construction central for the project. Our office is off-line. We will be able to use our long-time office and Arnold Lounge during this upcoming year as we transition to a new normal. (This space has been our home for training's and meetings.) Next summer, Arnold Lounge and the connected office spaces will be renovated to become a 24-hour study. It will no longer be available for group reservation.

Happy Thanksgiving from BOLT

Thanks to all BOLT participants, leaders, mentors, and friends who made the Third Annual BOLT Thanksgiving a huge success! We collected donations for Amos House, filled the lovely Sayles Hall with merriment, and enjoyed live music from the Sayles Organ. A good time was had by all.
