Welcome Class of 2016
Congratulations on your acceptance to Brown University!
We would like to invite you and other incoming first year students to register for and participate in the Third World Transition Program (TWTP). We, as fellow students, along with the Third World Center staff and other campus resources have been working hard throughout the summer preparing for your arrival!
Following student protests in 1968, the Third World Transition Program (TWTP) emerged in response to the needs of minority students on the Brown University campus. Now, in 2012, we continue to carry on this initiative for racial pluralism and social justice in the Brown community. TWTP inspires self-reflection, open and cross cultural dialogue and growth as individuals and as a people. You will meet your future peers and together, explore Third World History and the complexities of how systems of race, gender, class, heterosexism/homophobia, ableism, imperialism, and more, operate in a higher educational setting and in our society. This three-day journey presents a glimpse of the commitment of the University and its students to support one another and promote a reflective and more cohesive Brown community. TWTP is a wonderful experience like no other that is both fun and life changing.
Please look over the online information carefully and register for TWTP no later than August 1st, 2012.
We look forward to seeing you in August!
Sincerely,
