Welcome to China Care Brown!

Since the implementation of the One-Child Policy, Chinese society has been burdened by an increasing population of orphans, abandoned by their families due to socioeconomic hardships. While many state-funded orphanages have been built over the years to try to alleviate this problem, these orphanages are usually understaffed and their conditions unpleasant.

Deeply troubled by the plight of China's special-needs orphans, Matthew Dalio, Harvard '06, established the China Care Foundation in 2000 to address the suffering of these neglected children. Adding to what is already a rich and growing tradition of charity, in 2004 Andrew Puschel and Kyle Wood, both Brown '05, established China Care Brown, a student run organization that donates to the China Care Foundation.

Through our programs, internships, and activism, China Care Brown works toward bridging the gap between wanting to help those in need and actually helping them by providing an opportunity for Brown students to make an appreciable difference in the world, right here on campus.
