The Committee on Advancement shall consist of the President and the Chancellor, ex officio, and approximately thirteen members of the Corporation. The Trustee serving as the current President of the Brown Alumni Association shall always be a member of this committee.
The Committee is responsible for the oversight of policies and programs concerning development, alumni and constituent engagement, and communications. The Committee shall recommend actions to execute an effective advancement program, giving specific attention to growing and sustaining philanthropic support for priorities of the University.
The Specific Duties of the Committee Include the Following:
- The Committee shall take leadership on strategies designed to provide a sustainable flow of private sector support to realize the academic, physical, and operating objectives of the University.
- The Committee shall provide guidance and make recommendations related to engaging alumni, parents, and friends in the life of the University and will work closely with the Brown Alumni Association and other organizations to do so.
- The Committee shall stay abreast of the University’s communications strategies and provide direction on matters related to branding and outreach.
- The Committee shall review and evaluate advancement programs for effective alignment of development, alumni and constituent engagement, programmatic, and communications objectives.
The Committee on Advancement shall be staffed by the Senior Vice President for University Advancement and the Vice President for Alumni Relations.
