The Center for Environmental Studies aims to educate individuals to solve challenging environmental problems, both at the local and global levels. Undergraduate concentrations either in Environmental Studies or Environmental Sciences have students focused on addressing local environmental problems, working towards their practical resolution.

Focus on Africa

Focus on Africa is an ongoing series of activities, programs, and events that builds upon Brown’s diverse academic and cultural ties with African nations. These ties range from formal study abroad programs to investigating environmental pollutants and food supply problems, from establishing joint collaborative research projects to building infrastructure for AIDS orphans, from enabling better physician training to bringing together major writers and provocative African filmmakers.

Nanjing – Brown Joint Program in Gender Studies and the Humanities

A research partnership between Brown and the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities and Social Science at Nanjing University, the purpose of the Program is to bring outstanding scholars from Nanjing into dialogue with scholars at Brown about the global future of gender, feminist studies, and the humanities.
