The Brown Global Forums

The Brown Global Forums is an initiative of the Office of International Affairs (IA) to foster closer research ties between Brown and select partner institutions through a short-term faculty exchange program. The Forums provide Brown faculty with the chance to meet face-to-face with potential collaborators on their home campuses and network with a wider range of scholars, with the goal of fostering a meaningful and sustainable collaboration.
Activities
Each year, Brown and the partner institution will invite one to two faculty members from the other institution to visit one another’s campus for one week. Activities include at least one mandatory lecture, workshops, classroom visits, meals, and meetings with colleagues. Brown departments are the primary hosts for visitors, develop the visitor’s agenda while on campus, and provide primary administrative support for individual trips.
Funding
The exchange is fully funded by both the IA and the partner institution. There are no out-of-pocket costs to the researcher. For Brown faculty, the IA will fund airfare to the host institution. The hosting institution provides housing and meals for one week for Brown faculty. For partner institution faculty, the foreign institution pays airfare. The IA funds accommodations on or near campus and meals for one week.

Applications are due April 1 for fall semester and October 1 for spring semester.
