In March 1764, one hundred and twenty eight years after Roger Williams established the Colony of Providence, the “General Assembly of the Governor and Company of the English Colony of Rhode Island” passed an “act for the establishment of a college or university within this colony…” which would become the College of Rhode Island and later, in 1804, Brown University.
We will celebrate Brown’s 250th anniversary — the semiquincentenary — from March 2014 thru May 2015 (Brown’s Commencement/Reunion Weekend).
The 250th celebration will:
- Showcase Brown’s innovative approach to academic excellence;
- Highlight Brown’s distinctive culture and diverse global community; and,
- Honor and reveal Brown’s past, explore and discover Brown of today and imagine Brown in the future.
We welcome your participation, ideas and enthusiasm as we prepare for this significant milestone. Please take a few minutes to share your thoughts with us.
